
The Lake Land College volleyball season came to an end Saturday in the semifinals of the Midwest District B Tournament after falling to Indian Hills Community College in straight sets, 25-13, 25-15, 25-18, at the Laker Fieldhouse.
Indian Hills, ranked No. 6 nationally, took control early and never relinquished its advantage. The Warriors (34-3) defeated Missouri State-West Plains, 25-22, 25-21, 25-18, to advance to the national volleyball tournament held in Hutchinson, Kansas.
Carol Souza, Maria Gentry and Ashlyn Clem had 11 digs apiece for the Lakers (23-15), who entered the match ranked No. 2 in the nation for that category. Ella McConkey registered 10 assists and six digs while Souza added eight kills, and both Gentry and Katie Tarkington had four. Laney Chiaravalle had seven digs, eight assists, and a service ace.
