Mattoon’s Derrius White hauled in a 29-yard pass for a score just three minutes into Friday night’s game against playoff-bound Marion.
The lead, though, was short-lived.
Marion scored 33 seconds later on a long pass and then reeled off 30 unanswered points in the second quarter en route to a 59-8 victory.
The Wildcats improved to 8-1 while the Green Wave ended their season 3-6.
Mattoon averaged just 28 yards per carry, allowed 428 total yards and turned over the ball four times.
