Daischa Piedra ripped a grand slam to lead the Mattoon Cobras 16U to a 9-2 victory in an Indiana tournament in Terre Haute, Indiana, this past weekend.

The Cobras went 7-1 overall in the tournament.

Mattoon trailed 2-0 in the third inning before Piedra’s decisive hit. Karlie Bean then reached base, stole second and scored on a single. Emma Longcor then drove in the sixth run of the inning.

Dani Sarchet collected three of the Cobras’ 11 hits overall. Longcor had two.

Addie Brasier allowed three hits for the win in the title game.
