
Sidney Beier drilled a grand slam to lead Lake Land women’s softball to a 5-1 win in the second game of a doubleheader, salvaging a tie with Snead State in Boaz, Alabama.
Lake Land lost the first game, 11-2, a game shortened by the run rule.
Beier’s homer, which broke open a 1-1 tie in the fifth inning was one of only five hits in the game for the Lakers. Tyanna Graber also hit a homer for Lake Land. It was the second homer of the season for both players.
Abrienne Lee allowed only three hits and struck out three to improve to 6-0 and lower her earned-run average to 2.70. She gave up a home run in the fourth inning that tied the score, 1-1.
In the opener, Snead State scored six runs in the third and four in the fifth inning to force the shortened game. Rachel Kaufman dropped to 5-3, allowing six earned runs on seven hits, including two homers, in 2.2 innings.
Frankie Izzard collected two hits and drove in a run.
Lake Land (13-4) travels to Cleveland, Tennessee, for a Sunday doubleheader.
