Charleston jumped ahead early and kept the pressure on to post a 58-42 victory over Mt Zion on Tuesday night that evened the Trojans’ record at 8-8 overall.
Charleston took a 15-8 first-quarter lead that increased to 13 at halftime. By the start of the fourth quarter, the Trojans led 46-25.
Isaac Miller scored a game-high 17 points. Luke Bell contributed 10, and Caleb Hurst blocked six shots and added eight points.
Charleston is now 2-4 in the Apollo Conference while the Braves dropped to 0-6.
“The team did a nice job moving the ball against some pressure by Mt. Zion,” CHS coach Brad Oakley said. “Defense moved well together. Cade Landrus did a nice job getting others involved at the offensive end.”
In the JV game, Charleston’s Caleb Oakley hit a free throw with five seconds to play for the 48-47 win.
