Jaylen Middleton’s two free throws with 3.7 seconds remaining lifted Mattoon to a 36-35 win over Mahomet-Seymour in Tuesday’s junior varsity boys’ basketball game.
The Green Wave trailed 35-32 before Pierce Farmer drew a charging fouls and Kegan Kirts’ basketball made it a one-point game.
Mattoon got the ball back, and Cooper Bergstrom made a backdoor pass to Middleton who was fouled on a shot attempt.
Middleton converted both foul shots, giving him 15 points and the JV Wave the winning margin.
