The Charleston varsity volleyball team fought hard Thursday at Baker Gym, but couldn’t hold off a strong Effingham team.
“Offensively, they really forced their will on us,” said CHS coach Steve Pamperin.

Charleston started strong with a 26-24 win in the first set. Effingham bounced back with a 25-20 win to secure the second set.
In the third set, the score stayed close with Effingham squeaking out a 25-22 win over Charleston.
“We fought and scratched; they just came out on top,” said Pamperin when asked about the close third set.
Charleston will host the Lady Trojan Volleyball Invite on Saturday.
